Woodland Equipment Inc. (Woodland) is one of western Canada’s leading heavy equipment dealers for the forestry and construction industries. Woodland holds the exclusive rights to sell the distinguished brands of Hyundai Construction Equipment in British Columbia (BC), as well as Peterson and Ponsse in all of Western Canada. Woodland is a privately owned company and has a dedicated and experienced group of staff in all aspects of the business. Our business includes four areas of expertise: new and used equipment sales; parts and services provided on location or in the field; and heavy equipment rentals.

History

It all began in 1980. Woodland Equipment Inc. was formed and opened their first branch in Kamloops, BC on January 15, 1980. They started by buying and selling used parts from burnt salvage machines and specialized in marketing Skidder parts for all brands of machines.

In 1992 Woodland became the first Hyundai Construction Equipment Dealer in BC marketing Excavators, Wheel Loaders, Log Loaders and Processors. Hyundai has become a world leader in the Construction Equipment field and Woodland has been successful in selling over 700 units to the Construction and Forest industry.

In the same year, Woodland became the first Peterson dealer in BC and Alberta to market Whole Tree Chippers and Recyclers. Peterson has become known as exceptional brand in the chipping and recycling business.

In 2008 Woodland became the first Ponsse dealer in Western Canada. Ponsse offers state of the art harvesters and forwarders to the industry.

Today, Woodland operates full sales, parts and service, and rentals from their branches within BC located in Kamloops, Prince George, Vernon, and a satellite dealer in Nelson.

The future of forestry in Western Canada is not only in continuing the sale of wood products to foreign markets and pulp mills but also in the use of lumber and it’s by-products as a clean and reliable energy source. Bio-mass initiatives in BC and the rest of Canada have led to a demanding market for materials that were previously discarded and burned as waste.

These developments have given logging contractors and others in the industry yet another opportunity to expand their opportunities in the current economic climate as well contribute positively to the environment.

Woodland’s line of reputable products establishes us at the forefront of new initiatives in the forest industry. This includes equipment for bio-mass and co-generation as well as established practices of the supply of chips to pulp mills and recyclers for pellet mills and the latest technology in traditional logging operations.

Products and Services

Hyundai Construction & Forestry Equipment continues to develop and manufacture quality machines for use in the forestry and construction industries. Hyundai machines are known for operator comfort, ease of operation and safety while still fulfilling the needs for durability, high productivity and low maintenance. Woodland stocks the full line of HCE products including forestry and construction equipment for sale in these industries. Peterson has a reputable name as one of the most progressive manufacturers of chippers and grinders in the industry and is known for their innovative designs and most reliable product. Peterson’s full line of chippers and grinders are in demand as the market shifts toward the newer bio-mass market. Peterson has been manufacturing machines since 1981. Since 1991 Woodland has supplied the full line of Peterson products including Chippers & Debarkers, Horizontal Grinders, Disc and Drum Chippers, and Blower Trucks & Trailers.

Ponsse has been a pioneer of timber harvesting solutions since 1970. Ponsse offers a wide variety of state of the art cut to length forest machinery designed to log efficiently and effectively to maximize the profit of the logger. Ponsse is a public company based in Finland and operates in 40 countries worldwide. Woodland supplies the full line of Ponsse products including Harvesters and Short wood Forwarders.

Bruks is an international mechanical-engineering company, which develops, manufactures and markets machines and systems for the wood-processing industry. Bruks portable chippers are available to mount on short wood forwarders of various designs and models. Woodland was recently appointed the distributer for Bruks mobile chippers.
